Electric Jetski is silent and goes 50 MPH!!!

What an awesome creation!

This electric Jetski is going to take off. With zero emissions and silent operation what isn't to love about it?

I'm not sure if it is currently on the market but I hope all the rental companies will switch out to this cleaner and smarter version.

The beach thanks you Eco Watercraft!

Environmental Impact - In 1998 it was reported that a seven hour ride on a 2 stroke Jet Ski kicks out more pollution than an old model car driving 100,000 miles.

CALSTAR Strikes Back!

OMG! UC Berkeley (CAL for those in the know) has a Death Star Replica at the front of the campus!!!!
Ok maybe it isn't the DeathStar but it looks similiar.

Seems like an awesome school. I like the people I've met around there. Maybe one of these days I'll try my luck at going to school there. First I've got traveling to do.

I was having dinner with my sister, niece and grandma and she mentioned that I should get a degree and then travel the world. In my mind I've done a bit of college and enough to give me a taste but my main hunger is to see the world. Don't get me wrong I love the educational environment and will go for more schooling. At this time I'm in need of some international experiences to tuck under my belt. Stories to add to my arsenal and many many pictures to remind me of all the crazy quirky things out there in the world.

Interesting my Grandma's friend backed me up on the idea to travel while I was young and had the chance.
I say Carpe Diem! seize the fish! or the world or something. I guess I should go to school j/k .-)

Congrats to my sister!

My sister just graduated from San Francisco State University with a Master of Science degree in Nursing.

I'm proud of her for achieving her goal!

I put together a little video with still pictures from the grad. Check it out if you didn't get a chance to be there.

On the bus

Catching the greyhound up to SF for the weekend. I'm continually
amazed that Hawaii has resisted the billboard as a means of invading
the public space.

There are some anti advertising graffiti artists I really respect. For
fun check out the Graffiti Research Labs, GRL for short.

This billboard was a bit odd but has a good message...

Bay To Breakers 2009

Drunkeness + costumes - Halloween = The Bay To Breakers Marathon. Once a celebrated marathon it has degenerated to a drunken frat party. Sure there are those that enter and are serious about it, even raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for causes. Yet as I stroll back through the golden gate park I see why the city wants to ween this event off the beer bottle.

San Francisco has always attracted those who are all about radical self expression. I believe it has been for the better as the city is rich with art, the absurd, science, debauchery, and inspiration.

The quote of the day: "You can do anything here, this is the Bay to Breakers!"

Farewells are Necessary

The night drug on. I didn’t expect to see the sunrise. There is something to be said for the colors in the sky during the early morning though. Oftentimes I don’t wake up early enough to catch the beautiful rays of new light. I suppose packing maniacally through the night while listening to bad techno has its benefits. I was in full workerbee mode… I wonder if the drone of the bees’ wings serve as a relative of eurotrash techno. A silly repetitive beat that keeps tempo pounding, forcing constant movement. No lulls, just energy in audio form.

3 o clock pizza and random slideshows were interspersed in the mix, chance visits of friends. My favorite roommate of all time was looking out for me. Helping me do what I do best. Procrastinate. I can’t complain. It is amazing to spend those moments with friends.

I crashed as soon as I sat down on the plane. Mouth agape, tongue lolling. Zonked as I say. The night’s frenetic activity was worthwhile. The purging of material possessions allows for free movement. Stuff requires thought processes to track. Giving it all away is a nice way to cut the ties and bring smiles to others.

It hadn’t hit me till my friend Bonnie stopped by. I was leaving. Leaving for a grand adventure of indeterminate length. I broke down. There are those people who you connect with. Inspiring in the brightness that they live life. I cherish those friendships and know many more will shine in my life. This quote popped out of a book and inspired me to write about the first day of my travels…

“Don’t be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.”

Momentum

The comfortable world that I have known for so long is crumbling around me. My own doing. I'm tearing the familiar away for a taste of the unknown and adventure.

Some mornings I wake up with a gut clenching feeling like I'm at the top of the rollercoaster hanging tensely awaiting the fall.

"Am I really doing this? Did I just dream the whole scheme?"

YES! It is happening, I've got momentum behind me! the wind has picked up and my sails are filling.

I hope to glimpse a moment out of the eyes of other cultures to step in the footsteps of fellow travelers. Feel the weight of their packs as I explore, freely, with open heart and mind.

Too often we get caught in a daily grind, wearing down our spirit. Lost in the routine we stop living. In Australia there is a time when a person must break out, set off and live. Go on a walkabout. They travel until they find themselves.

Recently I saw a friend and I asked him how he was. He said, "I'm blessed"
Those words stuck with me that day. I thought about it and realized that I too am blessed. Blessed with health, friends, family and life in general.

I am setting out on a bit of a walkabout seeking what I may have lost and did not realize.
